Mohanlal: ‘Whenever we work together, he wins a National Award’

Mohanlal's highly anticipated directorial debut, Barroz, is set to release this Christmas, and the actor recently shared his experience working on the film in an exclusive interview with Baradwaj Rangan.
In the interview, Mohanlal praised the film's cinematographer, Santosh Sivan, for his exceptional work. “Barroz is a new terrain for all of us, including Santosh and me,” said Mohanlal. “But we tried something, and Santosh has done a great job. Whenever Santosh and I work together, he will get a national award. Kalapani, Iruvar, Vanaprastham… Whenever we meet Santosh will do some magic.” Mohanlal also reflected on his long-standing collaboration with Santosh Sivan, mentioning their past hits.
Mohanlal also said that only Santosh Sivan could provide the kind of assurance needed to create something truly special. Mohanlal also highlighted Santosh's unwavering commitment and support, noting that his dedication and love for the project were evident throughout the film's creation. “Only Santosh can give that kind of confidence. He will create some magic. That kind of commitment, that kind of love, It’s in the film.”
Barroz, inspired by the novel by Jijo Punnoose – who also directed India’s first 3D film My Dear Kuttichathan – promises an unparalleled cinematic journey. The film boasts an impressive cast, including Guru Somasundaram, renowned for his stellar performance in Minnal Murali, Tuhin Menon, and Cesar Laurent, who join Mohanlal in key roles. The film also features a mix of nationally and internationally recognized actors.
