In a nostalgic yet refreshing return to the world of urban relationships and emotional complexities, acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Basu is back with ‘Metro... In Dino’, the much-anticipated standalone sequel to his 2007 cult hit ‘Life in a... Metro’.

The trailer for the film was released on Wednesday, offering audiences their first glimpse into this new chapter that explores contemporary love stories set against the dynamic backdrop of a modern metropolis. With a theatrical release slated for July 4,

‘Metro... In Dino’ promises to blend Basu’s signature storytelling with a fresh ensemble cast and narratives that resonate with today’s times.

The 3.17-minute-long teaser begins with a melodious song ‘Aur Kitni Mohabbat’, sung by Arijit Singh. It then cuts to Aditya Roy Kapur’s dialogue that quite rightly sums up the relationships in today’s time - “Aaj kal pyaar confusing hai. It’s like a Cheese Chinese Schezwan Malasa Dosa. Saala, Chennai se China sab cover kar liya, lekin raha kahi ka nahi (Modern love is confusing. It’s like a Cheese Chinese Schezwan Masala Dosa. It’s gotten stuff from Chennai to China but doesn’t really belong here.”

Slowly, the trailer begins to show all four love stories - Aditya and Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta, and finally, Pankaj Tripathi and Konkana Sen Sharma.

The trailer is packed with sweet humour, adorable love, and a whole lot of emotional drama. Here, the director seems promising about once again bringing tales of love that are both childish and mature.

What truly elevates the trailer—and likely the film itself—are its poignant dialogues that resonate with depth and maturity.

When Neena says, "Umra toh bas ek ginti hai (Age is just a number)”, and Anupam reflects, "Kisi ke saath zindagi guzaarne ke liye, baar-baar pyaar mein padhna padta hai usi insaan ke saath (To spend a lifetime with someone, you have to fall in love with them over and over again)”, it becomes clear that the story is not just about love, but about the beautifully layered, often bittersweet journey of love that grows with age.

However, the only misfit in the trailer seemed to be Sara’s appearance as well as her chemistry with Aditya, which is seen briefly. Though it’s just the trailer, it seemed like the only aspect that possibly might not work in the film’s favour, with the rest appearing to be almost on point.

Meanwhile, a special song launch event for ‘Zamanaa Lage’ was recently held in Mumbai, bringing together the film’s talented cast and creative team. The evening was filled with heartfelt performances and candid moments, reigniting the musical soul that made the original so memorable.

Composer Pritam, who returns to helm the music for the sequel, also took to social media recently to fondly remember the late singer KK, whose soulful voice in the song ‘Oh Meri Jaan’ became synonymous with the emotional depth of ‘Life in a... Metro’.

Backed by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, ‘Metro... In Dino’ continues to build excitement with each reveal, offering a promising glimpse into how timeless emotions and contemporary stories will come together in this next chapter.
