The 2022 film Bro Daddy, which brought together Prithviraj and Mohanlal, was widely loved and appreciated by cinephiles. Incidentally, the film also marked Prithviraj's second directorial venture, adding to its significance. However, Prithviraj recently revealed that the role of the father character, John Kattadi, was initially intended for Mammootty, not Mohanlal. He made this revelation in an interview with Galatta Plus.

Prithviraj shared, "When I first read the script of Bro Daddy, the actor that immediately came to my mind was Mammootty. John Kattadi’s character was initially envisioned as one with a Kottayam Kunjuachan-style persona. And quite obviously, I felt that Mammootty would be perfect for the role. I approached him with the script, and he liked the character. However, at that time, Mammootty had other commitments. He asked if it was possible to delay the shoot, but due to the COVID-19 restrictions and the requirement to complete the shoot with only 50 people, we couldn't wait for a long time. That's how the role eventually went to Lalettan (Mohanlal)."

"Mammootty was the first person to hear the story, and Lalettan knew that. Had Mammootty done this role, the character would have been portrayed in the style of a regular farmer from Pala. If there were no COVID restrictions, I would have definitely discussed a larger film with Mammootty, but I did mention to him that Bro Daddy was not going to be a big canvas film like we would usually think about with Mammootty. I did tell the megastar that had it not been for the circumstances, I would have loved to do a gigantic film with him.”

Prithviraj's next project is Empuraan, the highly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster Lucifer. Directed by Prithviraj, the film stars Mohanlal in the lead role, with a star-studded cast that includes Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Sai Kumar, and Saniya Iyyappan. The film is gearing up for its release and is expected to be another major hit.
