Mammootty’s black-and-white horror film Bramayugam has made history by being showcased at the Oscar Academy Museum in Los Angeles. The film achieved the rare distinction of being the only Indian movie selected for the series ‘Where Forest Meets the Sea’ at the museum.

Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, Bramayugam was introduced in a pre-screening session that highlighted the film and its background. The host of the event referred to Mammootty as a Mollywood legend, and the audience, including international attendees, received the film with enthusiastic applause.

The film had previously won four awards at the recent Kerala State Film Awards. Mammootty was honoured as Best Actor, Sidharth Bharathan won Best Supporting Actor, Christo Xavier received the award for Background Music, and Ronex Xavier was recognised for Makeup.

Additionally, Bramayugam was ranked second in Letterboxd’s 2024 list of best horror films and has become a part of the sound design curriculum at the University for the Creative Arts in United Kingdom.

Produced under the banner of Night Shift Studios by Chakravarthy Ramachandra and S. Sashikanth, the film has grossed over ₹50 crore at the box office. Other notable cast members include Arjun Ashokan and Amalda Liz.
