New Delhi: Malayalam megastar Mammootty met writer M. Mukundan in Delhi during his visit to the national capital for the shoot of Mahesh Narayanan’s upcoming film. The duo spent half an hour in conversation, sharing memories and discussing literature. Mammootty’s wife, Sulfath, Mukundan’s wife, Sreeja, MP John Brittas and Mathrubhumi’s Delhi special representative, N. Asokan, were also present.

During their conversation, Mammootty warmly told Mukundan, “You introduced me to Delhi.” Mukundan, holding Mammootty’s hands, responded, Ente Embassykkaalam (his latest book), which we will discuss later, is my third acquaintance with Delhi.”

Mukundan was in Delhi for a discussion on his book Ente Embassykkaalam, an event being organised by Mathrubhumi. Mukundan and his wife met Mammootty at the invitation of John Brittas. Mammootty and Sulfath welcomed the celebrated Malayalam writer with love and respect.

The conversation soon turned to literature, with Mammootty speaking about how Mukundan’s novels, including Mayyazhippuzhayude Theerangalil and Haridwaril Manikal Muzhangunnu, shaped a generation. He fondly recalled his college days at Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam and the teachers who nurtured his love for literature. He spoke about how M. K. Sanu Master and C. R. Omanakuttan sir captivated students with their teachings.

Mammootty jokingly added that many female students would flock to Omanakuttan sir’s class, enchanted by his good looks.

The meeting lasted for about 30 minutes, after which John Brittas suggested taking a selfie with everyone. As Brittas took out his phone, Mammootty stopped him and said it should not be taken on the phone. Instead, the actor brought out his camera, an old model he has been carrying for years. Mammootty himself took a trial photo of Brittas to check the quality before handing the camera to his assistant, George, to capture the group picture.
