K-pop star Nana, mother fight off weapon-wielding home intruder; sustain serious injuries

South Korean singer and actor Nana (Im Jin-ah) is recovering from a violent break-in at her home in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, after she and her mother overpowered an armed intruder. The attack – which left both women injured and has sparked new fears about celebrity safety – took place early Saturday and has since drawn shock across the entertainment industry.
Intruder armed with weapon storms Nana’s home
Police in Guri said a man in his 30s broke into Nana’s residence in Acheon-dong around 6 a.m., carrying a weapon and demanding money. Local reports indicate the suspect threatened the 34-year-old performer and her mother during the confrontation.
Despite the danger, the two women managed to physically restrain the intruder until officers arrived. Both Nana and her mother were taken to hospital for treatment, according to Yonhap. Her mother briefly lost consciousness during the struggle, while Nana also sustained injuries while attempting to escape the threat.
Authorities later confirmed the suspect had been arrested on charges of attempted aggravated robbery. A detective told AFP that the man entered the home intending to steal valuables.
Agency confirms severity of attack
Nana’s agency, Sublime, acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, saying the police investigation remains active.
The agency said, “During the physical attack by the assailant, Nana’s mother suffered a critical injury and lost consciousness. Nana herself was also hurt while trying to escape the crisis. At present, both individuals are in need of medical treatment and complete rest.”
Sublime added that it will continue to support the family while authorities work through the case.
Rising concerns over celebrity security
The break-in comes amid a spate of recent incidents involving security breaches at celebrity homes, heightening public concern.
Comedian Park Na Rae suffered a major theft at her Yongsan residence earlier this year, with valuables worth tens of millions of won stolen. Initial speculation suggested someone close to her might have been involved, but police later confirmed an outsider – who later sold the items illicitly – was responsible. Park later told fans she had recovered “all the stolen items without a single scratch.”
In August, BTS star Jungkook reported a trespassing case after a woman in her 40s entered the parking lot of his home. He monitored the situation in real time, saying during a later livestream, “I was watching everything on CCTV. When she heard the police arriving, she tried to open the door to the underground parking lot – only to find the police waiting right in front of her.”
He added that the intruder claimed to be his acquaintance, prompting him to respond: “ARMYs are family and friends in a way, but this isn’t it. I have all the evidence. Everything is recorded here. If you want to get dragged away, come.”
