Kim Sae-ron's husband breaks silence on abuse, pregnancy after ex-boyfriend drops bombshell!

The tragic death of South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron has sparked a series of revelations, with her ex-boyfriend now speaking out against claims that fellow actor Kim Soo-hyun was in any way connected to her passing. According to a report by Koreaboo, citing THE FACT, the unnamed ex-boyfriend disclosed details of his final conversations with the late actress, shedding light on her struggles, marriage, and strained family relationships.

“As someone who knew Sae-ron better than anyone else, it’s absurd to me that her aunt suddenly appears, claims to be part of her bereaved family, and is now pushing the narrative that Kim Sae Ron died because of Kim Soo-hyun...The fact that none of them knew about her getting married to the New York man proves how little communication there was between them,” he stated.

He went on to criticise Sae-ron’s family for allegedly failing to support her during difficult times. Recalling an incident when she attempted self-harm and required emergency surgery, he claimed, “When I brought Sae Ron home after she was discharged, her mother and her mother’s friend were casually having a meal at home. She didn’t look surprised or show any signs of empathy. This kind of reaction from her family is why she always wanted to run away.”

The ex-boyfriend also revealed that despite Sae-ron’s marriage, she continued confiding in him about her struggles, particularly the alleged abuse she endured at the hands of her husband. Sharing a text exchange, he disclosed a threatening message from her husband at the time, warning him to stay away:

“This is Sae Ron’s boyfriend. Stop getting in touch with her again and don’t even think about seeing her again. This is my final warning. I know you met up with her on Christmas Eve and Christmas. I’m holding back, even though I want to kill you, so I’m blocking you. Just please, f*** off you useless piece of s***.”

Husband breaks silence on abuse, pregnancy, and marriage allegations

On March 25, a new video surfaced featuring statements from Kim Sae-ron’s husband. The report clarified that she was not pregnant, contradicting earlier claims, and also addressed speculation that he had been coerced into the marriage. Additionally, he refuted allegations made by YouTuber Lee Jin-ho and Kim Sae-ron’s ex-boyfriend regarding their allegedly volatile and tumultuous relationship.

According to KBIZoom, the Garo Sero Research Institute released Sae-ron’s official marriage certificate from the New Jersey Department of Health, confirming that she had legally wed in the US. The husband, however, clarified that while they registered their marriage on 12 January 2025, they mutually agreed to annul it soon after due to personal differences and the challenges of a long-distance relationship.

Responding to the abuse allegations, he insisted that any violent incident would have been noticed by neighbours due to the thin walls of his New Jersey residence. He also denied claims of controlling her, stating that both willingly shared passwords and made mutual agreements in their relationship.

Regarding the pregnancy rumours, he stated that their relationship only became serious in late November 2024, making the timeline for such claims implausible. He said that Kim had no intention of having a child and was on birth control during their time together.

He further revealed that he possesses a handwritten letter from Kim Sae-ron reflecting their relationship and is now considering legal action against those spreading misinformation.

Kim Soo-hyun faces fallout, event cancelled

While the controversy primarily revolves around Kim Sae-ron’s personal life, it has had significant repercussions for actor Kim Soo-hyun. Following claims that Sae-ron’s past relationship with him was a factor in her distress, the backlash against him intensified. Despite her ex-boyfriend’s firm denial of his involvement, Soo-hyun has faced public scrutiny.

Initially, the actor was scheduled to appear at the 2025 Kaohsiung Cherry Blossom Festival in Taiwan. Reports suggested that 50 police officers were set to be deployed for his security amid the ongoing scandal. However, the event was ultimately cancelled, potentially costing him an estimated ₩1.32 billion (approximately $911,000) in penalties.

Additionally, Disney+ recently postponed its upcoming K-drama ‘Knock Off,’ in which Soo-hyun was set to star. The production was originally slated to commence in April 2025, but its future now remains uncertain.

Earlier, Lee Jin-ho, the YouTuber who initially reported on the pregnancy and marriage claims, released an alleged voice recording of a conversation between the actress and a former agency representative.

In the recording, Sae-ron discussed a wedding post that was quickly deleted, stating, “I met my ex-boyfriend, broke up, and told him I had a new boyfriend. I wasn’t going to get married, but I got pregnant. I got rid of the baby. He threatened me with the baby, so I got married.”

Sae-ron took her own life in her Seoul apartment on February 16, 2025.
