‘India’s Got Latent’ returns: Comedian Samay Raina drops major hint on Instagram

Comedian Samay Raina has officially signalled the return of ‘India’s Got Latent’, months after the show was wiped from YouTube following intense controversy and public backlash. The creator, who had earlier assured fans that a second season was on the way, has now shared the clearest confirmation yet that production is underway.
Samay teases fans with Instagram update
On Thursday, Raina sparked excitement online after posting on Instagram about bringing back his beloved chess tournament “for old times’ sake”. The update triggered a wave of messages from followers eager for news on ‘India’s Got Latent Season 2’. Responding in his characteristic comedic style, he shared a meme from his stand-up special ‘Still Alive’ before finally dropping a major hint.
Raina posted a behind-the-scenes image from the new season, showing himself with comedian Balraj Ghai, while other panellists were deliberately obscured to keep the line-up under wraps. Comedian Aashish Solanki also appeared to be partly visible in the background, offering fans just enough to speculate.
Excitement around the second season intensified earlier when a leaked photo, purportedly from the set, circulated widely online. The picture appeared to show actors Alia Bhatt and Sharvari seated at the judging panel alongside Balraj Ghai and Solanki. However, the production team has not issued any confirmation, keeping speculation alive.
The controversy that halted the show
India’s Got Latent was pulled down in February 2025 after an episode featuring Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija ignited a storm on social media. Allahbadia’s remarks during the episode triggered widespread outrage, leading to multiple FIRs filed against him, Raina and the show. Mukhija later reported receiving rape and death threats, while Allahbadia was temporarily barred from uploading podcasts.
In March, the Supreme Court allowed Allahbadia to resume his content. Raina returned to the stage the following month with his special ‘Still Alive’, where he spoke candidly about the controversy and announced plans for the show’s comeback.
Industry support and recent appearances
Raina and Allahbadia recently appeared together on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ for a World Laughter Day episode. During the show, Navjot Singh Sidhu praised Raina and described him as the “future of comedy”, a moment widely shared by fans online.
