Prithviraj’s 'Anwar' returns to theatres; Sequel and Hindi web series based on film in pipeline

The mass action thriller ‘Anwar’, directed by Amal Neerad and featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role, has been re-released in select screens across Kerala. This new showing debuted on October 25 in major cities and promises a fresh viewing experience with advanced visual and sound quality.

This marks the film's return after 14 years, now enhanced with Dolby Atmos in 4K format, aimed at thrilling audiences once again. Produced by Raj Zacharias under the banner of Celebs and Red Carpet, Anwar was originally released in 2010.

In addition to the re-release, a Hindi web series titled ‘Kashmir Kabul Karachi’, based on the film, is reportedly in development, set to premiere in 2025. The producers have also hinted at a sequel.

The screenplay for ‘Anwar’ was co-written by Unni R and Amal Neerad. Alongside Prithviraj, the cast includes notable actors such as Prakash Raj Lal, Mamta Mohandas, Asim Jamal, Sampath Raj, Jinu Joseph, Sudheer Karamana, Sai Kumar, Geetha, Nithya Menen, Salim Kumar and Sreejith Ravi. 

The film features cinematography by Satheesh Kurup, music by Gopi Sundar, editing by Vivek Harshan, art direction by Joseph Nellikal, sound design by Tappas Nayak and action choreography by Anil Arasu. Other contributions include costume design by Praveen Varma and makeup by Ranjith Ambady.
