The Hema Committee report sheds light on the treatment of women in the Malayalam film industry, clarifying that not all male filmmakers are exploiters. While addressing the issue of misconduct towards women, the report acknowledges that many filmmakers treat women with respect and professionalism, and women feel safe working in such environments. The report emphasises that this positive behaviour extends to cinematographers and directors as well.

A particular focus is given to a cinematographer and director known for prioritising the safety and well-being of everyone involved in his films. Everyone is disciplined on their sets. During the shooting of intimate scenes, only essential personnel are permitted on set, and measures are taken to ensure the set is covered, ensuring complete privacy. The report underscores that these practices contribute significantly to making actors feel more secure. The committee also recognises that a large number of men in various departments within the film industry consistently treat women with dignity and respect. The Hema Committee highlights that many good filmmakers have upheld these values throughout the history of cinema.

The report released by the Hema Committee is an official document based on a thorough study of the subject, moving beyond hearsay. The committee gathered statements and opinions from those working in the industry to compile their findings. While the report is comprehensive, some sections were omitted from the 233-page document to protect individuals' privacy. The supplementary report, which includes more statements, has yet to be released.
