Los Angeles: The 97th edition of the Academy Awards brought a wave of nostalgia for fans of Adrien Brody and Halle Berry. Before the ceremony officially began, Berry bumped into Brody and shared a kiss, instantly taking fans back to their unforgettable moment at the 2003 Oscars.

The moment was caught on camera and quickly went viral, reminding everyone of the time Brody famously kissed the 'Never Let Go' actress on stage as he accepted his Oscar for Roman Polanski's 'The Pianist' at the Dolby Theatre (then known as the Kodak Theatre), which is also the venue for the 2025 Academy Awards, as per New York Post.

A throwback to 2003

Back in 2003, Berry presented the Best Actor award in keeping with the Oscars tradition of previous year's winners returning to present the opposite category. Berry had made history in 2002 by winning the Best Actress Oscar for 'Monster’s Ball', becoming the first Black actress to receive the honour.

"If you're known by the company you keep, tonight's recipient of the Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor will be known as a major, major player," Berry said before announcing the 2003 nominees.

After she revealed Brody as the winner, he rushed to the stage, embraced Berry, and kissed her passionately for several seconds.

"I bet they didn't tell you that was in the gift bag," he joked, while Berry, visibly surprised, wiped her lips.

Brody’s 2025 Oscar nomination

This year, Adrien Brody is nominated for his role as Hungarian-Jewish architect and Holocaust survivor Laszlo Toth in Brady Corbet’s 'The Brutalist'.
