Spider-Verse inspired GOAT film features star-studded voice cast, hits theaters 2026 | WATCH

Sony Pictures Animation is all set to release its much-anticipated animated sports comedy, GOAT, on February 13, 2026, strategically timed to coincide with the NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. The film, developed since 2019 and officially announced in May 2024, promises a fresh blend of action and comedy set in an all-animal world where a small goat named Will Harris dreams of becoming the greatest roarball player of all time. Roarball is a high-intensity, co-ed, full-contact sport, and Will’s determination to prove that "smalls can ball" forms the heart of this inspiring tale.
The movie boasts an impressive star-studded voice cast led by Caleb McLaughlin as Will Harris, with NBA superstar Stephen Curry not only producing but also lending his voice to Lenny Williamson, a giraffe roarball player. The ensemble includes Gabrielle Union as Jett Fillmore, a black panther roarball star, alongside Nicola Coughlan, Nick Kroll, David Harbour, Jenifer Lewis, Aaron Pierre, Patton Oswalt, and Jennifer Hudson, who voices Will’s mother. The film is directed by Tyree Dillihay, known for his work on Bob’s Burgers, and co-directed by Adam Rosette.
In terms of animation style, GOAT adopts vibrant, dynamic visuals inspired by the Spider-Verse films and incorporates innovative design elements like hologram foil effects inspired by sports trading cards, adding attitude and flair to the storytelling.
Following its theatrical release, GOAT is set for streaming on Netflix, as part of Sony’s deal for exclusive pay-1 window streaming rights, with subsequent availability on Disney+ and Hulu.
