Ranveer Singh vs FWICE: What really led to the withdrawal of the Don 3 notice?

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has clarified that its decision to withdraw a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh was not influenced by a legal notice sent by the actor. The clarification comes amid speculation that the federation reversed its stand after receiving legal communication challenging its action.

FWICE President BN Tiwari said the organisation had already decided to revoke the directive before receiving the notice. According to him, FWICE received a letter from the Producer Guild and the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) on May 29 and held discussions on May 30, during which the decision to withdraw the notice was taken.

Legal notice challenged FWICE action

Tiwari confirmed that Ranveer Singh's legal notice questioned the validity of the non-cooperation directive and sought its withdrawal within 48 hours. However, he maintained that the federation's decision was made independently and not under pressure.

He stressed that FWICE routinely issues and withdraws non-cooperation notices when disputes arise and are subsequently resolved, adding that the organisation does not view the withdrawal as a setback.

The controversy stems from reports surrounding Ranveer Singh's exit from Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar. Farhan reportedly approached FWICE earlier this year, alleging that the actor's departure caused financial losses estimated at ₹45 crore.

The issue gained attention after FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer in May. The actor's representatives later released a statement saying he continued to hold the highest respect for the film fraternity and those associated with the Don franchise.

Efforts underway to resolve dispute

Tiwari indicated that discussions are underway to settle the matter amicably. He said Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar are expected to engage with producers and stakeholders to find a mutually acceptable resolution.

The dispute emerged after reports claimed Ranveer walked away from Don 3 following the success of another project. While neither side has publicly detailed the full reasons behind the disagreement, the withdrawal of the FWICE directive is being viewed as a step towards resolving the conflict.

The Don franchise remains one of Bollywood's most anticipated projects. With the non-cooperation notice now withdrawn, attention has shifted to whether discussions between the parties will lead to a settlement and whether Ranveer Singh's association with the project can be revived in any form.
