First ₹70 lakh, then ₹80 lakh more! How Pradeep Ranganathan's remuneration skyrocketed

Pradeep Ranganathan is rapidly climbing the ranks as one of the most promising multi-talented names in Tamil cinema. Known for his work as an actor, writer and director, Pradeep first caught attention with the 2019 hit ‘Comali’, starring Jayam Ravi and Kajal Aggarwal. The film was praised for its unique concept and engaging screenplay, winning him the SIIMA Award for Best Debut Director in 2021.
Pradeep began his creative journey with short films and independent projects such as ‘Whatsapp Kadhal’, ‘College Diaries’ and ‘TV Kathai’. But it was in 2022 that he made his acting debut in ‘Love Today’ — a film he also wrote and directed. Starring alongside Ivana and Raveena Ravi, the film tackled modern relationships and the influence of mobile phones. Made on a modest budget of ₹5 crore, ‘Love Today’ became a runaway success, grossing over ₹100 crore at the box office.
According to reports, Pradeep was initially paid ₹70 lakh for the project. However, following the film’s massive success, the producers awarded him an additional ₹80 lakh — bringing his total earnings from ‘Love Today’ to ₹1.5 crore.
In 2025, he returned to the director’s chair (and the screen) with Dragon, which also starred Anupama Parameswaran and Kayadu Lohar. The film became one of the biggest Tamil blockbusters of the year, raking in over ₹120 crore globally.
With talents spanning writing, direction, acting and even lyric writing, Pradeep has firmly established himself as an all-rounder in Kollywood. His skill both in front of and behind the camera marks him as one of the industry's most versatile young creatives.
Born on July 25, 1993 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Pradeep completed his education in Information Technology at Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering before pivoting to a career in cinema.
