Film, producers’ associations extend support to Girija Theatre owner

Thrissur: Various associations in the Malayalam film industry have extended support to Girija Theatre owner Dr Girija condemning the cyber attacks launched against her for the past five years. As per reports, the associations of producers and distributors convened a meeting with Girija at Producers’ Association Hall on Saturday and discussed the matter.
The decision to hold the meeting was taken following the intervention of TN Prathapan MP. Earlier, Girija had alleged that she had been facing severe cyber attacks and no action was taken despite lodging complaints.
The meeting was attended by Film Chamber of Commerce president K Suresh Kumar, Producers’ Association president M Renjith, secretary Anto Joseph, Film Distributors’ Association president Listin Stephen and former president Siyad Kokkar among others.
Further, the women’s wing of the Chamber of Commerce extended support to Girija and announced a special movie screening on July 2 at 3 pm at Girija Theatre.
“The screening is aimed at garnering attention towards the issue and ensure the smooth functioning of the theatre,” said women’s wing president Suchetha Ramachandran.
