FEFKA announces 3-day meeting to review Hema Committee report

Thiruvananthapuram: The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), representing film technicians, has announced a three-day meeting to review the Hema Committee report. The session will commence next Saturday, with letters sent to the secretaries of various affiliated unions.

The release of the Hema Committee report had initially elicited no response from FEFKA, drawing criticism from various quarters. However, as discussions regarding the meeting progress, it has been confirmed that the main agenda will centre on the findings of the Hema Committee. Following these discussions, the report will be forwarded to the government for further action.

The Kerala Film Producers Association has assured that measures are being implemented to enhance the safety of women on film sets. The association has mandated that producers and production executives, through FEFKA, provide adequate toilet facilities for junior artists and crowds involved in filming.

Last Monday, the Hema Committee report was made public, highlighting several critical issues within the Malayalam film industry. The report pointed out that women are experiencing sexual harassment in the industry and revealed the pervasive influence of a powerful group within Malayalam cinema.
