Vineetha, who made her film debut in the 1993 film Chinna Jameen, starring Karthik and Sukanya in the lead roles, quickly became a new star on the scene. Her start was promising, and soon she was cast alongside some of Tamil cinema's biggest names, including Sarathkumar, Vijayakanth, Prabhu, and Arjun. She shone in both glamorous and rural roles, proving her versatility as an actress.

Vineetha starred as the heroine in the Tamil remake of Vietnam Colony and went on to play significant roles in films such as Nila alongside Jayaram, Maanthrikam opposite Mohanlal, and Rajaputhran alongside Suresh Gopi. Apart from Tamil cinema, she also had a strong presence in Telugu and Kannada films.

For a time, she was a sought-after actor, working alongside top superstars and portraying pivotal characters. However, her career came to a halt in 2003 when she, along with her mother and brother, was arrested on charges related to the sex trade. This arrest, based on accusations that they were involved in prostitution, caused a major upheaval in their lives.

The ensuing legal case and trial devastated them. The emotional toll was immense, with months of mental anguish, accusations, and counter-accusations. Vineetha went through a dark period, with the allegations shattering not only her personal life but her career as well. The charges, which later turned out to be unfounded due to a lack of evidence, caused irreversible damage.

The following year, Vineetha was acquitted by the court, but by then, the damage had already been done. Her career had been severely impacted, and opportunities in cinema dwindled. She later described the case as a "fake case aimed at ruining my reputation."

In 2008, she made a comeback to films, but her return was not to leading roles. She was only offered a supporting role in a low-budget film. Despite hoping for significant roles, none came her way, and ultimately, Vineetha distanced herself from the film industry completely.

Her rise to fame and subsequent downfall is a cautionary tale of how a promising career can be derailed by unfounded allegations and personal struggles, forever altering the course of her life.
