Fake casting directors disturb Mollywood, FEFKA mulls action

Kochi: Fake casting directors have been creating trouble in Malayalam film industry. FEFKA has received numerous complaints on fake casting directors for the last two months.

Fake casting calls for movies have been published through social media by these fraudsters. It is reported that people who respond to these fake casting call are forced to give huge amount of money in the name of investment in the movie.

These fake casting directors make the youth give money by promising lead roles in the movie. It is also reported that many girls are sexually exploited in the name of casting. Such cases are largely reported from Kozhikode, Kannur and Malappuram districts.

There are many professional casting directors in Bollywood and Kollywood. But only few professional casting directors are working in Malayalam film industry. But they have no registration and membership in any association in the industry.

Even people in the film industry used to share the fake casting calls circulated on social media. Hence, these fake advertisements get more credibility too.

Following the complaints, FEFKA directed its members to never share any posts on casting call from unknown sources.

FEFKA also asserted that no casting directors have membership in the association. In order to counter the allegations, FEFKA directed all casting directors in the industry to report to FEFKA production executive union general secretary. By collecting the details of the professional casting directors, FEFKA aims to trace the fake ones.
