Drishyam 3 opens strong: Mohanlal thriller crosses ₹1 crore in advance bookings

Drishyam 3 has made a strong start ahead of its theatrical release, with advance bookings signalling high anticipation for the latest instalment in the popular Malayalam thriller franchise.
The film, directed by Jeethu Joseph and starring Mohanlal in the lead role, is the third chapter in the series that began with Drishyam and was followed by Drishyam 2. Early expectations were already significant, and the latest figures have only strengthened that momentum.
According to industry tracker AB George, opening-day pre-sales in Kerala have crossed ₹1 crore, despite a limited number of shows. On a global scale, advance bookings have reportedly surpassed ₹4 crore, indicating strong overseas interest as well.
The story continues to follow Georgekutty and his family, with returning cast members including Meena, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil. Supporting roles are played by Siddique, Asha Sharath, and Murali Gopy.

At the trailer launch event in Kochi, Jeethu Joseph revealed that the new instalment introduces a different kind of psychological tension for Georgekutty. Unlike the earlier films, where he was aware of who was pursuing him, this time the uncertainty itself becomes the central threat.
Mohanlal also hinted at the possibility of further sequels, suggesting the franchise could extend beyond a third film depending on audience response.
Drishyam 3 is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on 21 May 2026.
