‘This is no ordinary police story’: Trailer of Shane Nigam’s ‘Dridam’ released

The trailer of "Dridam", featuring one of Malayalam cinema's most notable young actors, Shane Nigam, has been released.

The trailer suggests that the film centres on the arrival of a new Sub-Inspector, Vijay Radhakrishnan, who takes charge at the rural Kuzhinilam Police Station. Entering the job he has long aspired to with confidence, the officer soon encounters a series of unexpected situations that challenge him in ways he never anticipated.

After "Corona Papers" and "Vela", the trailer indicates that Shane Nigam once again appears in a markedly different police role. Shane plays S.I. Vijay Radhakrishnan, not as a conventional, larger-than-life hero cop, but as an ordinary officer trying to navigate situations on his own, understand the complexities around him, and grow through his experiences. The film appears to explore how a newcomer's missteps help him learn, how responsibilities shape a person, and how psychological pressures form the core of a police officer's evolution.

"Dridam" is presented as the deeply realistic journey of an individual. Crafted in a simple and sincere narrative style, the film, as highlighted by the trailer, promises moments that viewers will find relatable. At times unsure and without clear answers, the protagonist falters, questions himself, and yet persists through every challenge. "Dridam" is set to reach audiences as the story of a man who keeps pushing forward despite the odds.

The film's first video, released with the hashtag #ACopWithEverythingToProve, created a sensation across social media. The poster that followed was equally well-received. Now, the trailer too has captured widespread attention. The film features an extensive ensemble cast including Shobi Thilakan, Kottayam Ramesh, Dinesh Prabhakar, Nandan Unni, Vinod Bose, Krishnaprabha, Saniya Fathima, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Prashant Murali, Mathew Varghese, Joji K. John, Bitto Davis, Abhishek Ravindran, among others.

Presented by E4 Experiments and Jeethu Joseph (Bed Time Stories), the film is produced by Mukesh R. Mehta and C. V. Sarathi. The story, screenplay, and dialogues are written by Jomon John and Linto Devassy, with direction by debutant Martin Joseph.
