Actress Divya Pillai opens up about love marriage, separation

Divya Pillai, who made her debut in Malayalam cinema with Fahadh Faasil's 'Ayal Njanalla', recently shared insights into her personal life for the first time. Apart from acting, she has also pursued modelling and anchored shows on various channels. She has now acted in more than 20 films in Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil.
In a recent interview with a Telugu media outlet, Divya Pillai addressed the numerous rumours surrounding her love life and marriage. She candidly revealed that she had been in a 12-year relationship and eventually married a British national of Iraqi origin. However, they have since separated.
Reflecting on her wedding, Divya revealed, "My wedding ceremony took place when I was shooting for the movie ‘Ayal Njanalla’. I took five days off from my shoot for my wedding. The marriage ceremony was held at the Mookambika Temple per my parents' wishes."
"I loved and married a British citizen of Iraqi origin. His father is an Iraqi who immigrated to England 18 years ago, and his mother is English. Our love, which blossomed while working at Emirates Airlines, culminated in marriage. Although the marriage ceremony was performed, it could not be legally registered. Since he was a citizen of another country, there were many procedures to legalise the marriage. We broke up before doing all that. A divorce was not required just because it was not a legal marriage. When I couldn't reconcile what I wanted out of life and what he wanted out of life, we broke up amicably. So I was confused as to what to answer to the question of whether you are married," she revealed.
Regarding her current relationship status, Divya expressed a desire to keep it private.
"When the time comes to tell the truth, I will reveal the truth to you. This is the answer to everyone asking if I am in love. It is true that I am dating. But I don’t want to talk about it," she added.
