Actor Dileep’s film Bha. Bha. Ba., directed by debutant Dhananjay Shankar, received mixed responses during its theatrical release and later generated widespread discussion after its OTT premiere.

The film had already attracted attention ahead of its release due to a change in the music department. Composer Shaan Rahman, who was initially signed for the project, was later replaced by Gopi Sundar.

Now, Gopi Sundar has spoken about the circumstances under which he composed the music for the film. In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Sundar said he was approached by the makers at the last minute to compose the music.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Sundar said, “A film that had already been done by another composer and reached the mixing theatre was shown to the producer, who didn’t like it. Just one and a half weeks before (release), they came to me and said, ‘Brother, somehow save it. Do whatever you can. We’ll adjust the rest with the old work.’ I said if I’m doing it, I’ll do it fully. There’s no point in doing it halfway. That’s how it had to happen, and that’s how it happened.”

He also said the film’s release date could not be changed, making it a “do-or-die” situation.

“It was the same with Bha. Bha. Ba. It came to me at the last minute. Maybe they felt another composer wouldn’t be able to finish it within the given time. It wasn’t because of my talent or affection. They probably thought only this guy could get it done in this timeframe. The December 18 release date couldn’t be changed. In that do-or-die situation, Dileepettan suddenly called me and said, ‘Gopi, there’s a film. You have to do it. You have to save it.’ He told me it should be a film where people who come to the theatre don’t think too much — they should just switch off their brains, dance, sing along, and enjoy,” he added.

Bha Bha Ba features an ensemble cast led by Dileep, with Mohanlal appearing in an extended cameo, alongside Vineeth and Dhyan Sreenivasan. Set against a political backdrop, the movie blends action, humour, and satire.
