Dhanush turns bank robber in ‘Kara’ as trailer unveils Gulf War-set action drama | WATCH

Dhanush is set to portray a bank robber in his upcoming action drama Kara, with the makers releasing the film’s official trailer, offering a glimpse into a tense, crisis-driven narrative.
Directed by Vignesh Raja of Por Thozhil fame, Kara marks his second directorial venture. The film features a strong ensemble cast including Mamitha Baiju, K. S. Ravikumar, Karunas, Jayaram, Prithvi Pandiarajan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, M. S. Bhaskar, and Sreeja Ravi in key roles.
Set against the backdrop of the 1991 Gulf War, the film explores the global economic fallout and a severe fuel crisis that impacts daily life in India. The trailer opens with news footage highlighting the turmoil, before shifting to scenes of public unrest.
Dhanush’s character is shown carrying out a series of bank robberies, driven by undisclosed personal motives, setting off a high-stakes cat-and-mouse chase. Suraj Venjaramoodu plays a determined officer tasked with tracking him down as the robberies escalate and create chaos.
Beyond its action-driven narrative, the trailer also hints at emotional depth, particularly through a confrontation between Dhanush and Mamitha Baiju, suggesting personal stakes behind his actions.

The film’s music is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, while production is handled by Ishari K. Ganesh and Kushmitha Ganesh under Vels Film International. The screenplay is jointly written by Alfred Prakash and Vignesh Raja, with editing by Sreejith Sarang.
Kara is scheduled for theatrical release on 30 April.
