Actor Santhosh Nayar killed in road accident in Adoor; wife seriously injured

Pathanamthitta: Malayalam actor Santosh K Nayar was killed in a road accident on Tuesday following a collision between a truck and an Innova car on the MC Road near Puthussery in Adoor.

His wife, Rajalakshmi, sustained serious injuries in the incident.

The accident occurred at around 6:15 am. Santosh Nayar and his wife were travelling from Thiruvananthapuram to Kottayam, with Santosh driving the vehicle.

The Innova car in which the actor was travelling collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. The vehicle had to be cut open to rescue Santosh and his wife.

They were immediately taken to a private hospital in Adoor by local residents, but Santosh could not be saved. The truck driver also sustained injuries in the accident.

He had acted in more than 100 films, portraying roles as a villain, comedian, supporting actor and lead actor. He made his film debut through ‘Ithu Njangalude Katha’, directed by PG Viswambharan.

He had been active in the film industry since 1982. His performance alongside Mohanlal in ‘Irupatham Noottandu’ was widely noted.

‘Mohiniyattam’ was his most recent film release.
