Box Office Report: 'The Wild Robot' tops charts as 'Bougainvillea' builds momentum

A range of genres debuted at the box office this week with the releases of 'The Wild Robot', 'Bougainvillea', 'Smile 2', and 'Porattu Nadakam'. These films are garnering attention for their engaging storylines and performances, and early box office figures indicate a thrilling competition for audience interest.

According to Sacnilk, 'The Wild Robot', released on October 18 and directed by Chris Sanders, has lived up to its hype as a family adventure film. It collected Rs 50 lakh on the first day, with its India net collection over the weekend standing at Rs 3.32 crore, while the worldwide total reached Rs 1327 crore. 

‘The Wild Robot’ is an animated drama adapted from Peter Brown's beloved book series and directed by Chris Sanders. The story follows Roz, a robot from the ROZZUM unit 7134, who becomes stranded on a deserted island after a shipwreck. As she navigates the unfamiliar wilderness, Roz learns to survive in the natural world and gradually forms connections with the island's animals. Along the way, she becomes the adoptive mother of an orphaned gosling. Roz’s journey is one of growth, self-discovery, and exploring what it means to truly live.

Directed by Amal Neerad, 'Bougainvillea' was released on October 17. It opened with Rs 3.3 crore on its first day. By the weekend, the film’s worldwide collection crossed Rs 20 crore, with Rs 2.25 crore collected on the second day, Rs 2.85 crore on the third day ,and Rs 3.16 crore on the fourth day in India. 

‘Bougainvillea’ centers on Reethu, portrayed by Jyothirmayi, who suffers from retrograde amnesia after an accident. Her condition makes her a crucial figure in an investigation surrounding the disappearance of several girls. The film also features Sharafudheen, Veena Nandakumar, and Srinda in significant roles.

'Smile 2', released on October 18 and directed by Parker Finn, earned Rs 383 crore worldwide, with Rs73 lakh from India. The day one and day two collections were Rs 13 lakh and Rs 27 lakh, respectively, while day three saw a rise to Rs 33 lakh. 

The sequel to ‘Smile’ (2022) stars Naomi Scott as Skye Riley, a global pop sensation who encounters a series of unsettling and terrifying events just as she's preparing for a world tour. As the horrors intensify and the pressure of her fame mounts, Skye is forced to confront the dark secrets of her past in order to reclaim control over her life before it spirals into chaos.

'Porattu Nadakam', released on October 18 and directed by Naushad Saffron, earned Rs 14 lakh worldwide, with Rs 13 lakh from India. The day one and day two collections were Rs 4 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, respectively, while it was Rs 4 lakh on day three. 

'Porattu Nadakam' is a Malayalam film directed by Naushad Saffron that humorously examines the socio-political landscape of the fictional village of Gopalapura, situated on the Kerala-Karnataka border. The story follows Abu, a light and sound operator played by Saiju Kurup, as he navigates the village's dynamics influenced by various political parties. The film opens with a play performed by oppressed caste members, setting the cultural backdrop for the narrative. A key character is a cow named Manikkutti, who plays a pivotal role in the unfolding events.
