'Should we send Lawrence Bishnoi': Screenwriter Salim Khan gets threat; woman among 2 held

Mumbai: Famous Bollywood writer Salim Khan, father of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, has received new death threats from a woman, who warned that she would send a dangerous gangster to kill him, a police official reported on Thursday. This is the second time Salim Khan has faced such threats near his home at Galaxy Apartment in Bandra West.
In this latest incident, the threat came from a man and a woman wearing a burqa who arrived on a scooter while Khan was out for his morning walk at around 8:45 am on Wednesday. Feeling tired, Khan sat down to rest on the promenade in front of the Windermere Building when the couple approached him.
The duo accosted Khan and asked him, “Lawrence Bishnoi ko bheju kya?” (Should I send Lawrence Bishnoi?), before they took a u-turn and sped off from there.
Following a complaint from Khan's personal bodyguard, Deepak Borse, the Bandra Police have filed a case against the couple and are currently investigating. Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Marathe mentioned that the police were reviewing CCTV footage from the area and were searching for the couple.
"We launched a probe and detained both the accused persons. During their investigation, they told us that they were playing mischief," an official said.
This is not the first time the Khan family has received threats, which have caused alarm in Bollywood. Earlier this year, on April 14, two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle opened fire at the Khans' residence, but fortunately, no one was injured. Later, the Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the attack, issuing what they called the "first and last warning" to the Khan family, which shocked the entertainment industry.
The suspects, Vicky Gupta, 24, and Sagar Pal, 23, were arrested in Bhuj, Gujarat, about 325 km from the India-Pakistan border.
