Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran recently opened up about his film journey and personal connections in an interview with Zoom. During the conversation, the charismatic actor shared insights into his upcoming projects and the early days of his career.

One of the highlights of the conversation was his close bond with actor Fahadh Faasil. Prithviraj shared that their friendship dates back to childhood, with both of them being “nepo kids” – children of renowned film personalities. He spoke highly of Fahadh’s father, Fazil — a respected filmmaker in the Malayalam industry — who played a pivotal role in launching several stars, including Mohanlal, and even influenced Prithviraj’s own career path.

Recalling his early days, Prithviraj shared a memorable story about his first screen test, which he did while still in 12th grade. The test was with actor Asin Thottumkal and was conducted at Fahadh’s house. Although Prithviraj didn’t know what it was for at the time, it eventually led to his debut through director Ranjith. Interestingly, the same shoot later marked Fahadh’s own film debut.

To the unversed, Fahadh Faasil made his debut in 2002 with Kaiyethum Doorath, directed by his father Fazil, which also featured Mammootty in a guest role. In the same year, Prithviraj made his debut through Ranjith’s Nandanam. Interestingly, Asin had made her debut a year earlier with Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka, directed by Sathyan Anthikad.

This revelation highlights the chance meetings and coincidences that often pave the way for remarkable cinematic collaborations and the shaping of successful film careers.

Meanwhile, Kayoze Irani directorial Sarzameen starring the likes of Prithviraj, Kajol and Ibrahim Ali Khan is currently streaming on JioHotstar.

Being the multifaceted personality that he is, Prithviraj directed L2: Empuraan starring Mohanlal, which became one of the biggest hits of the year. In addition to several ambitious South Indian projects, the versatile actor has an exciting lineup that includes Daayra, directed by Meghna Gulzar and co-starring Kareena Kapoor Khan. He will also appear in SS Rajamouli’s SSMB29 alongside Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra. (With inputs from Agencies)
