Asha Bhosle admitted to Breach Candy Hospital after sudden health emergency

Mumbai: Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday.
The 92-year-old singer, one of India’s most celebrated voices, was taken to the hospital due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection, according to a post by granddaughter Zanai Bhosle. The hospital have not yet issued an official medical bulletin on her current condition.
Zanai Bhosle on her X post wrote, “My grandmother, Asha Bhosle due to extreme exhaustion and suffering a chest infection has been admitted to hospital and we request you to value our privacy. Treatment is ongoing and hopefully everything will be well and we shall update you positively.”
Bhosle is the sister of iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar and belongs to the legendary Mangeshkar family, which has played a defining role in Indian music for decades.
In a career spanning over eight decades, Asha Bhosle has established herself as one of the most prolific and versatile playback singers in Indian music history, recording thousands of songs across multiple Indian languages and genres, including film music, ghazals, pop, and devotional albums.
She has received numerous national and international honours, including two National Film Awards for Best Female Playback Singer. In 2000, she was conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest honour in cinema, in recognition of her lifetime contribution to Indian film music.
In 2008, the Government of India awarded her the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second-highest civilian award. In 2011, the Guinness World Records recognised her as the most recorded artist in music history, acknowledging her unmatched contribution to global music.
