Days after shocking fans by announcing his exit from playback singing, superstar singer Arijit Singh has sparked fresh curiosity, this time over reports that he may be planning to enter politics.

According to an NDTV report, the singer is exploring the possibility of launching a political party, though sources say the move is unlikely to happen immediately and will not affect the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. Industry insiders suggest Arijit could begin his political journey at the grassroots level before taking any major electoral plunge.

While Arijit has not officially commented on the speculation, people close to him claim that he has already begun preparing for a career transition beyond music.

The buzz comes shortly after Arijit announced on Instagram that he would no longer take up new playback singing assignments.

“I want to thank you all for giving me so much of love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey,” he wrote.

The post triggered emotional reactions from fans and celebrities alike, many of whom hoped the announcement was a prank. Social media was flooded with lyrics from his iconic songs and messages urging him to return to music.

Despite earning well, Arijit is known for his grounded lifestyle and continues to live in his hometown, Jiaganj in Murshidabad, West Bengal, where he remains deeply connected to local communities, a fact that is now fuelling speculation about his political ambitions.

From Tum Hi Ho and Raabta to Laal Ishq and Kabhi Jo Baadal Barse, Arijit has remained Bollywood’s most trusted voice for over a decade, working with stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh.
