Apoorva Mukhija moves to New York, a year after India’s Got Latent controversy

Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, has revealed that she no longer lives in India.
In a recent episode of the podcast Untriggered By AminJaz, Apoorva shared that she was moving to New York and joked that by the time the episode was released, she would already be in the United States.
She later shared the podcast on her Instagram Stories with the message, “Soo… I don’t live in India anymore.”
Why Apoorva Mukhija chose New York
Speaking about her decision, Apoorva said her travels played a role in choosing New York as her new home. She recalled arriving in the city and immediately feeling that she wanted to live there.
According to Apoorva, she was drawn to New York's fast-paced lifestyle, architecture, food and fashion. She also mentioned having seen the city in several web series she enjoys watching.
Apoorva further revealed that she applied to a college in New York and secured admission, making the move possible.
The India’s Got Latent controversy
Apoorva’s move comes about a year after she became involved in the controversy surrounding an episode of Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent.

The episode drew widespread criticism after Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, made controversial and sexually explicit remarks while interacting with a contestant. The backlash that followed led to complaints being filed against several people associated with the episode, including Ranveer, Samay and Apoorva.
Apoorva was among those named in complaints alleging the promotion of obscene and sexually explicit content. Multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita were reportedly invoked in connection with the case.

Following the controversy, Samay Raina removed the episodes of ‘India’s Got Latent’ from YouTube and his scheduled India tour was also affected.
Apoorva later appeared before the National Commission for Women, where she submitted a written apology in connection with the matter.
Now, a year later, Apoorva has revealed that she has moved to New York to pursue her college admission and begin a new chapter outside India.
