Amitabh Bachchan receives second bomb threat in weeks; security tightened

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has received another bomb threat, with a fresh email warning of possible blasts at his Mumbai residence, Jalsa. The message also reportedly named the Bombay High Court and Mahalaxmi Racecourse as potential targets, prompting security checks at the locations.
According to the police, searches were carried out at Bachchan's bungalow, the Bombay High Court and the Mahalaxmi Racecourse. No suspicious objects were found at any of the locations. Officials have begun investigating the email to establish whether the threat is genuine and trace the person responsible for sending it.
This is the second threat involving Bachchan in less than a month. On October 23, an email sent to Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde and Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi also mentioned the actor's residence. The message warned of a possible grenade attack at a school on October 31 and threatened to target Jalsa sometime between October 31 and November 27.
The earlier email also referred to 'Khalistan' and threatened an attack during Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh's November 27 concert at Mahalaxmi Racecourse. Following the threat, security arrangements were increased at the locations mentioned in the message.
The incident also affected Bachchan's customary Sunday appearance outside his home, where he greets fans who gather to catch a glimpse of him. On November 2, the veteran actor appeared behind a transparent bulletproof enclosure installed outside Jalsa. His son, actor Abhishek Bachchan, and security personnel were also present during the interaction.
Tusshar Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana also receive threats
Bachchan is not the only Bollywood actor to have faced threats in recent days. Actors Tusshar Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana also received threatening messages from a person claiming to have links with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Tusshar reportedly received an audio message from someone identifying himself as Harry Boxer, an alleged associate of the gang. The caller demanded Rs 5 crore from the actor. However, a preliminary examination of the recording found that the voice did not match the samples of Harry Boxer available with the police.
Ayushmann, meanwhile, received a threatening message on Instagram from a person claiming to be associated with the same gang. The sender allegedly demanded several crores from the actor.
The Mumbai Crime Branch subsequently arrested a 30-year-old Bengaluru-based IT engineer, identified as Vaibhav Mishra, in connection with the threats. Police suspect that he posed as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to intimidate actors and demand money. Investigators have also said that there is no evidence linking the accused to the gang.
According to reports, the accused allegedly sent similar threatening messages to several other Bollywood personalities. The investigation is underway to establish the full extent of his involvement.
