Allu Arjun remanded in 14-day judicial custody over woman's death in 'Pushpa 2' stampede

Hyderabad: Actor Allu Arjun has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by the Nampally court in connection with the tragic death of a woman during a stampede at a theatre screening 'Pushpa 2'.
The actor was arrested by the Telangana police on Friday afternoon from his residence in Jubilee Hills. He was subsequently taken to the Chikadpally police station, where his brother Allu Sirish and father Allu Aravind also arrived, along with producer Dil Raju. The police recorded Allu Arjun's detailed statement, following which he was sent for a medical examination at Gandhi Hospital and then presented before the court.
The incident occurred at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad on December 4, during the screening of 'Pushpa 2'. The stampede claimed the life of Revathi, a woman in attendance, and injured her son. The chaos was reportedly triggered by Allu Arjun’s presence at the theatre, which led to a surge in crowd numbers. Days earlier, the police had filed a case against the actor in connection with the incident. Two theatre staff members were also arrested before Allu Arjun's detention on Friday.
Videos of the emotional scenes during Allu Arjun’s arrest have surfaced online. Footage shows the actor sipping coffee as the police waited at his residence. His wife Sneha Reddy, brother Allu Sirish, and father Allu Aravind were present at the time. The actor reportedly told his family not to worry and reassured them before leaving with the officers.
Before departing, Allu Arjun kissed his wife and expressed his readiness to cooperate with the police, saying, *"I’ll finish my coffee, and then we can go, sir."*
The incident at Sandhya Theatre resulted in significant criticism of the management, as they are also named as accused in the case. The overcrowding caused by the star's visit has been cited as the primary reason behind the tragedy.
