Allu Arjun offers Rs 25 lakh for woman killed in 'Pushpa 2' screening stampede

Hyderabad: Actor Allu Arjun on Friday, has announced a donation of Rs 25 lakh to the family of a woman who tragically died due to asphyxiation during a screening of I in Hyderabad.
The 35-year-old woman passed away on Wednesday, while her 8-year-old son was hospitalised after a jostled crowd at Sandhya theatre caused the fatal incident.
In a video shared on X, Allu Arjun expressed his deep condolences and reassured the grieving family. He stated that while nothing can compensate for such a loss, he would provide financial support to help secure their future, especially for the children. He also shared that he would personally meet the family and extend any assistance they need.
"Deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family during this unimaginably difficult time. I want to assure them they are not alone in this pain and will meet the family personally. While respecting their need for space to grieve, I stand committed to extend every possible assistance to help them navigate through this challenging journey," he said in the video.
The incident occurred as a large number of fans gathered at the theatre to catch a glimpse of the actor during the premiere of his much-anticipated film. The tragic event has prompted legal action, with a case filed against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management.
In addition to the donation, Allu Arjun has pledged to cover the medical expenses of the woman’s son, who remains in critical condition. The hospital reported that the 8-year-old boy is receiving intensive care and remains under close monitoring.
The actor, visibly shaken by the tragedy, shared that he only learned of the incident the day after it occurred and expressed his heartfelt condolences. He also urged the public to be cautious when visiting cinema halls and to return home safely.
Earlier, the makers of the movie issued an official statement expressing grief over the tragic incident.
"We are extremely heartbroken by the tragic incident during last night's screening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the young child undergoing medical treatment. We are committed to standing by them and extending all possible support during this difficult time. With deep sorrow," wrote Mythri Movie Makers on X.
Meanwhile, Pushpa 2 continues to break records at the box office. On its opening day, the film grossed a staggering Rs 294 crore globally, surpassing the opening day collection of Jawan and setting a new record for the biggest domestic opener.
Directed by Sukumar, the film stars Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil in key roles.
