After Mohanlal, only Nivin can do humour like that: Akhil Sathyan

Director Akhil Sathyan has compared Nivin Pauly to Mohanlal. He said that after Mohanlal, Nivin Pauly is the only actor who can handle comedy with such effortless ease. Akhil made this remark while speaking about Sarvam Maya, the film he directed with Nivin Pauly in the lead after Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum. Sarvam Maya has been receiving a positive response and continues its theatrical run.

“Childlike innocence is Nivin’s biggest strength. After Lal sir, I have seen that quality only in Nivin. After Mohanlal, Nivin is the only one who can do humour like that,” Akhil Sathyan said in an interview to Club FM.

“What Nivin did in Sarvam Maya was a level above what I had written. The rhythm was changed; it was Nivin who asked if he could change the rthymn. From the very first shot, Nivin gave me a Prabhendu (character name) I had never imagined. He carried that character consistently throughout the film,” Akhil said.

“Nivin was the first actor who called me to make a film. If that call hadn’t come, I wouldn’t have entered cinema so soon. The story thread of Pachu emerged from that call. I completed writing Pachu specifically for Nivin. Only at the last moment did the lead change to Fahadh,” the director added.
