Thiruvananthapuram: The government has decided not to go for appeal against the anticipatory bail granted to actor and MLA Mukesh in a rape case. Initially, there were plans to approach the High Court to revoke the bail granted by the Sessions Court, but this course of action will not be taken.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) had previously pointed out the possibility of an appeal in a letter to the prosecution, and discussions were held on the matter. However, it is now reported that no further action will be taken on this letter. The decision not to proceed with the appeal comes as the SIT is scheduled to hold a meeting in Kochi today.

Prosecutors have been directed to return the letter submitted by the SIT. Mukesh was granted bail by the Sessions Court with conditions, including cooperating with the investigation and not leaving Kerala.

Usually, when the Sessions Court grants bail in such cases, the standard procedure is to approach the High Court. However, it is perceived that Mukesh, being a public representative, may be receiving a special concession and an appeal may not be filed.
