Postmortem report reveals internal bleeding as cause of actor Dileep Shankar's death

Thiruvananthapuram: The death of Malayalam film and serial actor Dileep Shankar at a hotel room on Sunday has sent shockwaves through the industry. Just hours after his body was recovered, the details of the post-mortem report have now been released.

According to the post-mortem report, Shankar’s death was caused by internal bleeding, which authorities believe may have resulted from liver disease or injuries sustained in a fall.

Shankar, 50, was found dead on Sunday in a hotel room in Thiruvananthapuram, where he had been staying for a serial shoot. Police noted that the exact cause of death could only be determined after receiving chemical analysis results, as the body was in an advanced state of decomposition.

The actor had checked into the hotel on December 19 and had reportedly not left the room during his stay. His body was discovered after hotel staff noticed a foul odor emanating from the room and alerted authorities. Police had to break open the locked door to find the actor’s body on the floor.

Initial reports speculated that Shankar’s death might be a case of suicide. However, police later clarified that no evidence supported this claim, and there were no indications of foul play or unnatural death in the room.

Shankar’s colleagues revealed that he had been suffering from a serious illness and undergoing treatment, though the specifics of his condition remain unknown.

The actor was known for his roles in films like ‘Chaappa Kurishu’ and ‘North 24 Kaatham’ and serials including ‘Amma Ariyathe,’ ‘Sundari,’ and ‘Panchagni.’
