Malayalam actor and producer Kunchacko Boban paid tribute to scriptwriter John Paul who passed away on Saturday following an acute respiratory illness. He took to his
Instagram page and penned a long note with the title ‘Into eternal peace’.

“The man, the talent…who gave birth to so many soul-touching movies, who remained in the hearts of everyone that he met, who had unparalleled command over the language and literature…the man who we all lovingly called UNCLE!!! There were so many instances where I could feel the warmth and love that you had for the UDAYA family, especially for my Appan.
The big man who had a much much bigger heart for the people around him..so much that we could feel his love even when he was not around us. Your voice and words will be sorely missed…but your creations will speak volumes for what you had done for the film fraternity and literature!!
Nedumudi Venu Chettan, Lalitha Chechi and now John Paul Uncle…recent times had seen big losses for the Malayalam Film fraternity and more on a personal aspect for me and my family.
Hope you all rekindle your friendship in the Heavens,” wrote Chackochan.

John Paul was undergoing treatment for the last two months. His health deteriorated on Friday despite showing signs of improvement. He breathed his last around 1 pm on Saturday.

The body will be taken for public homage at Ernakulam town hall and Chavara Cultural Centre on Sunday morning. The funeral will be held at Elamkulam Church on Sunday evening.

He had penned the script for more than 100 movies. His noted works are 'Yathra', 'Ormakkayi', 'Sandhya Mayangum Neram', 'Kattathe Kilikkoodu', 'Kathodu Kathoram' and 'Utsavapittennu'. His first movie was 'Chamaram' directed by Bharathan. He was famous for his narration of the inside stories of the Malayalam film industry in an interesting way.
