It happened to me! The song is what I experienced at the age of 8: Gowry Lekshmi on ‘Murivu’ song

Gowry Lekshmi's song ‘Murivu’ has sparked extensive discussions on social media recently. Following the song's rise to attention, both the song and the singer have faced severe cyber attacks. The attacks stem from the lyrics and music of the song, which begins with ‘My name is girl’ (‘Ente peru penn’). In response, Gowry Lekshmi has addressed the issue.
In an interview with Variety Media, Gowry Lekshmi explained that ‘Murivu’ reflects her personal experiences. "I have experienced all that is said in the song at the age of 8, 13, and 22. I have only written what I had to go through. None of that is imaginary," she stated. She vividly recalled an incident from when she was eight years old, including the clothes she wore that day.
"I was traveling from Vaikom to Tripunithura Hill Palace with my mother. The bus was very crowded and my mother made me sit safely on a seat. The person who was standing just behind, a man who was older than my father, lifted the top I was wearing and placed his hand inside. I pushed him away saying that I have to go to my mother. This was the first time I had to go through such an experience. I understood that the situation was all problematic," the singer recounted.
"The song also tells of my bad experience after going to a relative’s house at the age of 13. I used to go to that house during my vacations. I stopped going there after I felt that his attitude towards me showed notable changes." Gowry Lekshmi emphasized that ‘Murivu’, which was released a year ago, has now become the subject of intense debate.
