Jungkook’s holiday magic: BTS star drops cinematic self-filmed 'The Christmas Song' video | WATCH

Seoul: BTS member Jungkook released a soulful cover of "The Christmas Song" on Wednesday, offering a festive "healing" gift to fans as the K-pop group prepares for a highly anticipated return in 2026.
The track, uploaded at midnight Dec. 24 via the group’s official SoundCloud and YouTube channels, features a "velvet-voiced" rendition inspired specifically by the 2020 version from American singer-songwriter Johnny Stimson. The original 1946 classic was famously popularised by jazz legend Nat King Cole.
Accompanying the audio is a cinematic video personally filmed by the 28-year-old singer. The footage captures a quiet, intimate nightscape of Seoul, focusing on the Namsan area and the iconic N Seoul Tower.
BigHit Music, the group's agency, said the release was intended as a sincere seasonal gesture for the fans, known globally as ARMY. The cover leans into Jungkook's mid-to-low vocal register, highlighting a mature tone following the completion of his mandatory military service earlier this year.
The surprise drop comes amid a flurry of activity for the septet. During a Dec. 21 livestream featuring all seven members, group leader RM announced that the band has already finalised recording for an upcoming album.
"Let's make 2026 the year of BTS," RM said during the broadcast. "Something really big is coming."
Industry analysts expect the group to launch a full-scale world tour in spring 2026, marking their first major concert series since their hiatus began in 2022.
Jungkook has a history of sharing cover songs as gifts for fans, having previously released renditions of Harry Styles’ "Falling," Lauv’s "Never Not" and IU’s "Ending Scene." This latest release marks his first holiday-themed solo cover since the group's collective discharge from the military.
The track was mixed and mastered at HYBE Studios by engineers GHSTLOOP and Son Yu-jeong. Within hours of its release, the cover amassed millions of plays, trending globally across social media platforms.
