The One8 World launch in Delhi turned into a candid reflection on music, memory and the mindset that drives one of cricket's biggest stars.

Virat Kohli has positioned One8 as more than a brand associated with his name. Since its launch, it has grown from a sportswear venture into a lifestyle label reflecting the cricketer's interests in fitness, fashion, food and contemporary living. With a portfolio spanning apparel, footwear, fragrances and hospitality, One8 has steadily expanded its presence over the years. The launch of One8 World in New Delhi marks a significant milestone in the brand's growth journey.

Held at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre on June 21, the event drew a packed crowd eager to see Kohli and Punjabi music star Karan Aujla, who headlined the evening's entertainment. The launch was expected to focus on the brand's future, but it was an on-stage conversation between the two stars that quickly became the night's biggest talking point.

Speaking to Aujla before the audience, Kohli spoke about his admiration for the singer and revealed that one of his songs has become an important part of his pre-match routine.

"I have been a big fan of his for a while now. You represent your story through your songs. The one I resonate with the most is 'Winning Speech'. I find a bit of a similarity with my journey when I was young. That song is quite special, and I hear it quite often before I go to play matches," Kohli said.

The revelation offered a rare glimpse into a side of Kohli that fans do not often get to see. While the former India captain has frequently discussed preparation, discipline and fitness, he has rarely spoken about the role music plays in helping him get into the right frame of mind before stepping onto the field.

Kohli went on to explain why the song connects with him on a personal level.

"It explains the journey he has been through, and I have felt a bit of similarity with my journey as well. I also lost my dad when I was pretty young. So, that song is quite special for me. I have heard it often before going to play matches," he said.

The comments resonated with many in attendance. Kohli lost his father, Prem Kohli, in 2006 during a crucial phase of his cricketing development, an experience he has often credited with shaping his determination and outlook on life. In ‘Winning Speech’, he appears to find echoes of perseverance, loss and ambition, themes that have also defined his own rise from a young cricketer in Delhi to one of the game's most recognisable figures.

Aujla's performance, which included tracks such as ‘Winning Speech’, Wavy and Gabhru, kept the energy high throughout the evening. Videos of Kohli grooving to the music and sharing the stage with the singer quickly made their way across social media, drawing reactions from fans who enjoyed seeing the two personalities together.

Yet the lasting impression from the event was not tied to a performance or a business announcement.

For many fans, that insight proved more memorable than any launch presentation. It showed that even after years of success, Kohli still finds motivation in the memories and moments that defined his earliest struggles, carrying them with him every time he walks out to play.
