With Coldplay’s highly anticipated ‘Music of the Spheres’ World Tour set to hit India in January 2024, fans are buzzing with excitement. The iconic band is returning to the country after nearly a decade, with concerts scheduled for January 18 and 19 at Mumbai’s D.Y. Patil Stadium. However, with only 50,000 seats available, the scramble for tickets is expected to be fierce. A viral ChatGPT analysis has shed light on just how tough it might be to secure a ticket.

Breaking down the odds

A viral post shared by ONDC Marketing Executive Tina Gurnaney on X recently analyzed the chances of getting a Coldplay ticket using ChatGPT. Based on her assumptions, including an estimated 1,50,000 fans trying to book through BookMyShow, the initial odds are about 1 in 3. However, the analysis didn’t stop there. Gurnaney factored in additional elements, such as fans not formally expressing interest but still planning to buy tickets, and those using multiple devices or accounts.

With these added variables, the odds become slimmer, dropping to roughly 1 in 4.4, giving fans only a 22.7% chance of securing a seat at the concert. As more people join the race, the odds are expected to shrink further.

Since being shared, Gurnaney’s post has garnered over 1 lakh views and sparked a lively conversation among fans. While the base odds were calculated using basic assumptions, users in the comments pointed out other factors that could make securing a ticket even harder. For instance, group ticketing and the option to buy up to 8 tickets at once could drastically reduce the chances for individual buyers.

Some fans drew comparisons to past high-demand events, like the ‘Diljit & Dua Lipa’ concerts, where tickets sold out almost instantly. With Coldplay’s immense popularity, the competition is expected to be even more intense.

Infinity tickets: A glimmer of hope?

For fans seeking an alternative, Coldplay has introduced "Infinity Tickets" priced at Rs 2,000. These special tickets offer more fans a shot at attending the concert, but with a twist — seating locations will only be revealed on the day of the event, adding a sense of mystery. Fans can purchase a maximum of two Infinity Tickets, further intensifying the scramble.

In addition to their electrifying performance, Coldplay has teased a special surprise guest for the India shows, fueling even more excitement among fans. Though the band hasn’t revealed who the guest might be, the announcement has only added to the anticipation surrounding the event.

How to get tickets?

Tickets for Coldplay’s Mumbai concert will go live on BookMyShow at 12 p.m. on September 22, 2023. With demand expected to far exceed the 50,000 available seats, fans are advised to act fast to improve their chances.

With Coldplay’s return to India after nine years and the excitement of a surprise guest, the band’s concerts in January are set to be a massive event. Will you be among the lucky ones?
