‘Haven’t said reconciliation is not possible,’ says lawyer on AR Rahman-Saira Banu divorce

Following the recent divorce announcement of music composer AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu, questions surrounding the future of their relationship and the custody of their children have been circulating. Lawyer Vandana Shah, who is representing the couple, has spoken out on the matter, leaving the door open for the possibility of reconciliation between the pair.

In a conversation with Vicky Lalwani on his YouTube channel, Vandana doesn’t rule out reconciliation between the two. She said, “I have not said that reconciliation is not possible. I am an eternal optimist, and I always talk about love and romance. The joint statement is quite clear. It talks about pain and separation. It's a long marriage and a lot of thought has gone into coming to this decision, but nowhere have I said that reconciliation is not possible”.

AR Rahman and Saira Banu, who married in 1995, have three children together: Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen. The couple cited significant emotional strain in their relationship as the reason for their decision to part ways. They requested privacy during this difficult time and shared the news through a joint statement issued by their lawyer.

Saira also revealed in a separate statement that she had been dealing with health issues in recent months, which contributed to her decision to take a break from AR Rahman. Despite the separation, the couple's supporters remain hopeful, with many wondering if a future reconciliation might still be possible.
