Nivin Pauly's 'Bethlehem Kudumba Unit': Malayalam cinema's ultimate onam package?

With just one week left for Onam and only four days remaining for its release, advance booking has officially opened for ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’ (BKU), bringing together Nivin Pauly, Mamitha Baiju, and director Girish AD
The film is already recording impressive numbers across online ticketing platforms ahead of its worldwide release on August 21.
As indicated by the trailer, ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’ promises an exceptional, fun-filled experience for audiences. Featuring relatable characters rooted in everyday neighbourhoods, the Girish AD directorial tells a hilarious story set against a rural backdrop.
With Nivin Pauly playing the lead, families across Kerala are expected to book tickets to ‘Bethlehem’ this Onam season, with early indications suggesting the film will serve as a complete festive entertainer.
Girish AD has firmly established himself among the hit directors of contemporary Malayalam cinema, having previously delivered acclaimed blockbusters such as ‘Thanneer Mathan Dinangal’, ‘Super Sharanya’, and ‘Premalu’. With ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit,’ audience expectations are running high, especially since premier production banner Bhavana Studios is collaborating with Nivin Pauly for the very first time.

This project marks the sixth production from Bhavana Studios and follows directly on the heels of their blockbuster hit ‘Premalu.’ The film is produced by Dileesh Pothan, Fahadh Faasil, and Syam Pushkaran under the Bhavana Studios banner. The screenplay has been jointly written by Girish AD and Kiran Josey.
‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’ boasts a wide-ranging ensemble cast including Sangeeth Prathap, Suresh Krishna, Bindu Panicker, Vinay Forrt, Roshan Shanavas, Shyam Mohan, Shameer Khan, Srinda, Parvathy Ayyappadas, and Meenakshi Raveendran. Principal photography for the film spanned over a hundred days, with shoots taking place across multiple locations including Chalakudy, Pollachi, Goa, Hyderabad, and Kuttikkanam.
The technical crew includes Ajmal Sabu as cinematographer, Vishnu Vijay handling music direction, and Akash Joseph Varghese as editor, with lyrics by Vinayak Sasikumar. The executive producers are Benny Kattappana and Jose Vijay, while Richard serves as production controller and Ashik S. as art director. Costumes are by Dhanya Balakrishnan, makeup by Ronex Xavier, and stunts by Action Santhosh.

Jamsheer Purakkattiri is the production executive, and Philip Francis serves as chief associate director. Sound mixing is credited to Vishnu Sujathan, with sound design by Sankaran A. S. and K. C. B. and Rishilal Unnikrishnan, poster design by YellowTooths, and publicity by PRO Athira Diljith.
