A seemingly casual restaurant visit by Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez has spiralled into an online controversy after an Instagram user secretly filmed her without consent, triggering renewed debate over celebrity privacy in public spaces.

The viral video, shared by Instagram user ca.rishabh.sethia, shows Jacqueline seated inside a restaurant, engaged in a private conversation with a man. 

The clip begins innocuously before the camera zooms in on the actor from a distance, followed by the person recording smiling and gesturing towards her — a moment many online users described as intrusive and uncomfortable. Watch the video below: 

Dressed casually in a white outfit, Jacqueline appeared unaware that she was being recorded. The video was uploaded with a vague caption asking viewers to identify her, quickly gaining traction across social media platforms.

Instead of reacting angrily, Jacqueline responded with restraint. Commenting directly on the post, she wrote, “Yup, that’s me ” — a calm acknowledgment that won her praise from fans but also intensified discussion around the normalisation of covert filming. 

While some users applauded the influencer for maintaining distance, others questioned the ethics of recording a public figure without permission. Comments flooded in defending the actor’s right to privacy, with several users pointing out that fame does not equate to constant public access.

“Glad you shot from far and didn’t encroach privacy,” read one comment, while another noted, “She’s humble, but that doesn’t mean people can film her secretly.”
