Actress Parvathy shared that when director Christo first approached her with the story of 'Ullozhukku', she initially tried to avoid it. Parvathy explained that at that time, she was not in the right mental state to take on such a strong emotional drama. In an interview with Mathrubhumi.com, she provided details about 'Ullozhukku', which also stars Urvashi.

Why did you choose ‘Ullozhukku’ to be your comeback film

The truth is, I have not been anywhere to come back from. It took me almost four years to say yes to 'Ullozhukku'. Later, I learned that Christo had waited for almost the same number of years for Urvashi Chechi as well. When Christo came to my home in 2018 and narrated the story, I couldn't even digest the gist of the film. I usually enjoy taking up dark characters involving intense emotions, but I got scared after hearing the story of 'Ullozhukku'. I tried to avoid it, stating that it would be too heavy for me.

Christo pursued without giving up, I got the courage when I was at a dark phase in life

Christo, who had left then, texted again two years later and said that some changes had been made, and a producer was ready. He asked me to read the script again. Halfway through, I asked Christo to narrate the story himself, as I was unable to read it all. Every detail was written so honestly, without any disguise. By that time, I had gone through some dark times in my life, which gave me the energy to take up the film.

Will the storyline of ‘Ullozhukku’ be a topic of discussion?

'Ullozhukku' does not justify anything. There are two ways to glorify and justify what a character says, but it goes wrong when something bad a character says is glorified and justified. The use of slow-motion scenes and background music can elevate a character's dialogue and action to that level. However, in 'Ullozhukku', no character's actions are justified or glorified.

Urvashi Chechi is my guru, if I were alone, I would have failed

When I was told I would be acting alongside Urvashi Chechi, I immediately decided to take the role without any objection. Having a good scene partner is very important. My character's name is Anju, and Urvashi Chechi appears as Anju’s mother-in-law, Leelamma.

The shoot for the film lasted 43 days. Every day, we thought that the next day’s scene would be less intense than today’s. However, as the name 'Ullozhukku' suggests, the scenes only got more intense as we progressed. Chechi was with me the entire time. If I was alone, my efforts would have failed. Chechi's support was immense, and I was able to relax. Once the scene begins, it becomes Anju and Leelamma's world. Even if it’s acting, experiencing the same intense emotions every day can be mentally challenging. Fortunately, Urvashi Chechi was with me, and she often cracked jokes to keep us relaxed.

A university called Urvashi

There were several physical and mental challenges behind the film. I never had a scene partner for 'Take Off' or 'Uyare'. Those characters were alone in many situations. Therefore, I was afraid that once I got out of the mental state of the character, I would lose touch. The very first day I met Chechi, I put aside that behavior. The big lesson I learned from Chechi is that the more relaxed we are, the better we can act. My experience with Urvashi Chechi was like learning  from a university.
