"It was late PV Gangadharan who added the prefix ‘superstar’ to my name," said Union Minister Suresh Gopi. While inaugurating ‘Gangatharangam,’ the first commemoration meeting of PV Gangadharan at Gender Park, Vellimadukunnu, on Sunday, he remarked that Grihalakshmi Productions, the film production company of PVG, had created a new trend in the Malayalam film industry that changed the sensibility of a generation.

“He played a key role in the development of Kozhikode and worked hard to make Karipur Airport a reality. The epoch-making film ‘Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha’ is the culmination of PVG's creativity as a producer,” Suresh Gopi said. He emphasized that it was PVG who had added the prefix ‘superstar’ to his name, referring to the film ‘Ekalavyan,’ produced by Grihalakshmi Productions, which transformed his cinematic fortunes.

“It is impossible to think about Kozhikode without PVG. He strongly believed that nobody is inferior to him and supported me in my life,” said director Sathyan Anthikkad. Actress Samyuktha Varma also spoke during the function.

The screening of the teaser for the re-release of ‘Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha’ was held. Lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Nampoothiri and Abdussamad Samadani MP  too spoke. The financial assistance to former actor Machatt Vasanthi was given to her daughter by Mayor Beena Philip.

PV Chandran, Chairman and Managing Director of Mathrubhumi and elder brother of PV Gangadharan, presided over the meeting. “More than a brotherly affection, I have a deep relationship with him,” said Chandran.

PV Nidheesh, Joint Managing Editor of Mathrubhumi, director Geo Baby, Thottathil Raveendran MLA, Mayura Shreyams Kumar (Director, Digital Business - Mathrubhumi), Aryadan Shoukath, Sherin Gangadharan (wife of PV Gangadharan), and his children Sherga, Shegna, and Shenuga, along with relatives and renowned cultural personalities, participated.
