Deepika Padukone turns baker as baby Dua turns one

Mumbai: Bollywood’s leading lady Deepika Padukone swapped film sets for frosting as she baked a chocolate crumble cake to celebrate her daughter Dua Padukone Singh’s first birthday.

Sharing a picture of the cake on Instagram, the actor wrote: “My love language? Baking a cake for my daughter’s 1st birthday (sic).” The single blue candle on the homemade delight stood tall amidst flowers on the table — a simple but heartfelt celebration.

Interestingly, the post arrived fashionably late, since baby Dua was born on September 8 last year. Fans didn’t mind, though, as the sweetness of the gesture outshone the delay.

Deepika and husband Ranveer Singh marked their little one’s milestone on Monday with an intimate get-together at home, surrounded by close family and friends.

The couple, who married in November 2018, have been fiercely protective of their daughter’s privacy. While a few distant glimpses of Dua recently surfaced online, they were swiftly taken down at the parents’ request.

On the professional front, Deepika is currently shooting for Atlee’s next with Allu Arjun and is also gearing up for the second installment of Kalki 2898 AD'’ alongside Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. Ranveer, meanwhile, is preparing for the December release of Aditya Dhar’s 'Dhurandhar'.
