After Rajpal Yadav, Ameesha Patel faces non-bailable warrant in ₹4.5 lakh cheque bounce case

Actor Ameesha Patel has landed in fresh legal trouble after a Moradabad court issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against her in connection with a cheque bounce case linked to a 2017 event booking dispute.
The warrant was reportedly issued after the actor failed to appear before the court despite multiple summons.
According to case details cited in media reports, the complaint was filed by Moradabad-based event organiser Pawan Kumar Verma, owner of Dream Vision.
Verma alleged that Ameesha Patel had been booked to perform at a wedding event scheduled for November 16, 2017. As per the complaint, an advance payment running into several lakhs was made for the appearance, and arrangements for the actor’s stay were also finalised.
However, Patel allegedly did not attend the event on the scheduled date. The organiser claimed that the cancellation led to financial losses and embarrassment.
Verma further alleged that after repeated requests for a refund, partial payments were made. While a portion of the money was reportedly returned in cash, a cheque issued for the remaining ₹4.5 lakh allegedly bounced upon deposit.
Following the cheque dishonour, Verma approached the court seeking legal recourse under provisions related to cheque bounce offences. The matter has remained pending for several years.
The Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division) court in Moradabad had issued repeated summons directing Ameesha Patel to appear. Reports suggest that Patel’s absence continued across multiple hearing dates.
At times, her non-appearance was attributed to professional commitments, while on other occasions, her legal representatives were reportedly not present.
Taking note of the repeated failure to appear, the court has now issued a non-bailable warrant to secure the actor’s presence. With the NBW in place, Patel has been directed to appear before the court at the next scheduled hearing.
Responding to the development, Ameesha Patel’s counsel Abhishek Sharma stated that the dispute dates back to 2017 and had already been resolved through a settlement. He asserted that the full payment was returned as part of the agreement and alleged that the complaint was being misused.
The defence has expressed confidence that Patel will appear before the court and present her side. Legal observers note that issuance of a non-bailable warrant does not imply guilt but is a procedural step taken when an accused repeatedly fails to comply with court summons.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for March 27, 2026. Failure to appear on the designated date could result in police action to produce the actor before the court.
The development comes close on the heels of actor Rajpal Yadav recently facing jail time in a high-value cheque bounce case, drawing renewed attention to financial disputes involving film industry personalities.
