K Jayakumar

K Jayakumar is a popular poet, lyricist, painter and scriptwriter. He is a retired IAS officer who served in various positions including Chief Secretary, founder vice chancellor of Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University, district collector, tourism director, MG University vice chancellor and Film Development Corporation MD.

He has penned about 20 books in different genres like poems, translation, children’s literature, biography and novel. He translated the works of renowned writers like Tagore, Kahlil Gibran, Jalaluddin Rumi and Omar Khayyam. He published five collections of poetry in Malayalam including ‘Ardhavrithangal’ and Rathriyude Sadhyathakal’ and two in English.

He has also scripted and directed the children’s movie ‘Varnachirakukal’. He has written songs for more than 80 films. He is also an accomplished painter and has conducted painting exhibition at various places in India.
