V. Madhusoodanan Nair
V. Madhusoodanan Nair is renowned poet in Malayalam. The poems recited by him were widely appreciated. He was born in Neyyattinkara of Thiruvananthapuram. As his father was a Thottampattu artist, a sense of rhythm was instilled in him at a very early age.
After completing post-graduation in Malayalam from Thiruvananthapuram University College, he joined as a lecturer in Thumba St. Xaviers College. Madhusoodanan Nair’s debut poetry collection is Naranathu Bhranthan published in 1992. It is one of the most sold out poetry books in Malayalam.
His other noted works include Bharatheeyam, Gandhi, Agasthyahridayam, Ammayude Ezhuthukar, Acchan Piranna Veetu, Ganga, Nataraja Smriti, Sakshi and Irulin Mahanidrayil.
He is the recipient of Kerala Sahitya Academy Award for Poetry in 1993, Kunju Pillai Award for Poetry in 1986, K. Balakrishnan Award in 1991, Asan Award for Poetry in 2003 and Padmaprabha Literary Award in 2016.
